Every Second Counts
Water damage is one of the most time-sensitive repairs in electronics. The water itself doesn't fry your device — it's the corrosion that starts within minutes as water interacts with the electrical components. Here's what to do immediately.
Step 1: Get It Out of Water Immediately
Obvious, but worth saying: get the device out of water as fast as possible. The less time submerged, the less water has penetrated the internal components.
Step 2: Power It Off — Do NOT Test If It Works
This is the most important step that most people get wrong. Do not try to turn it on. Powering a wet circuit board causes short circuits that permanently damage components that would otherwise be fine. If the phone is on, power it off immediately. If it's already off, leave it off.
Step 3: Remove SIM, Case, and Accessories
Pop out the SIM tray and remove your case. These trap moisture against the device. Shake the device gently to dislodge water from ports.
Step 4: Do NOT Use a Hair Dryer or Oven
Heat does more damage than water. Don't put your phone in an oven, use a hair dryer on it, or leave it in direct sunlight. High heat warps components, separates adhesive, and can crack screens.
Step 5: Do NOT Put It in Rice
The rice myth has been thoroughly debunked. Rice doesn't absorb moisture from inside a sealed device — it just draws dust and particles into your charging port. Silica gel packets are marginally better but still won't save a wet phone on their own.
Step 6: Bring It to Us — Fast
The best thing you can do is bring it in for professional water damage treatment as quickly as possible. We use ultrasonic cleaning equipment to remove corrosion from circuit boards, which dramatically improves recovery rates.
We offer water damage treatment for phones, tablets, and laptops. Success rates are significantly higher when devices come in within 1–2 hours versus 24+ hours after damage.
What to Expect
We'll disassemble your device, clean the board, test all components, and give you an honest assessment. Not every water-damaged device can be saved, but many can — and a professional cleaning gives you the best shot.
